It kinda looks like leather but surely does not feel or patina as well as leather. It has a slight sheen and slick feeling unlike the matte texture and surface feel of real leather when new.
I read that MB-Tex is actually more durable than leather. Everything else is worse. It sticks, stiffer, less smooth and not as comfortable. And visually not as attractive.
From different opinions stated from mb tex owners it is an alternative to leather in mercedes but is more durable compared to leather. And I have heard that it was made to be a less expensive option than leather. I would love leather but down the road I don't want to have to deal with it cracking and having to repair it.
MB-tex is sometimes referred to as Artico leather in regions outside the U.S. I had it on my GL350 and had to buy sheepskin covers because I couldn't stand its feel, especially in the summer.
Yes your right in the UK MB_TEX is called ARTICO it looks like leather but its just like vinyl in the UK just a bit like embossed plastic to look like leather
I think leather would be the best bet for the seats since we are more familiar with it. I like the look and feel of it. I will be going in to the Mercedes dealership anyways this weekend so I will have a test feel myself.
I don't know.... the leather seats in my car with nearly 230,000 miles is holding up quite well. Unless MB decides to use inferior leather in the CLA's, which I doubt, I think leather will be fine. I prefer the feel and smell of leather and I'm willing to pay a little more for it.
I'm not saying MBTEX is better. I prefer real leather as well.
I've just always thought MBTEX was garbage and didn't last long at all but just reading some reviews apparently MBTEX was meant to be similar to leather in feel but last much longer.
Although I perfer leather I wouldn't say MBTEX is garbage. I think MBTEX, and other manufacturer's "fake" leather are pretty good and holds up well to wear and is far from "garbage" as some would call it. I just prefer the smell of leather and I'm willing to pay for it.
I'll probably just go with the standard trim and then go with the black leather. Standard because it is a bit cheaper, and black leather because what is more classic than black leather?
Not very fond of the black ash wood trim. That ash wood only looks good in brown.
Got to go with the walnut wood and brown leather. Does anybody know what exterior color options there are with the CLA? You have to make sure that your interior choices match with your exterior choices.
I would match the brown on brown interior with the Universe Blue paint color.
I wonder how many people will go for the violet. It is a bold choice.
