I have been keeping my eye out for pricing and Cadillac is offering some really deep discounts on the 2013 MY. Low 40K for AWD/Nav/Sunroof
let us know how it goes. The ATS seems to be a great car

I haven't driven the 2.0T to compare, but I would definitely say that the CLA better make a strong case for itself. Sure, most CLA250's won't cost anywhere near the amount of a loaded ATS, but the two cars cross over more than a little bit when it comes to cost so hopefully the CLA brings something else to the table that the ATS cannot.

The ATS has been priding itself on its magnetic ride control and sports differential handling and I'm not getting that same sort of vibe from the CLA.

I don't see the CLA 250 to be a sporty as the ATS.

The ATS is marketed as a sport car and reviewers and editors seem to agree with that. The CLA not coming in manual is already a ding to it.

And not being manual was the biggest downfall for the cla 250. the ATS is a tough one to compete with when it comes to the bottom of it.

I agree with that , at least offer a manual in the basemodel. Lexus was smart enough and did that with their lexus IS. MB should take note.

But the usual trend now is that car makers offer manuals a year after the vehicles original release, it's like they're trying to slowly transition people to just automatic transmission vehicles without the option to go manual.

I think you can sum it up when you look at what the two cars we designed to do. The ATS was designed to kick BMW in the teeth, the CLA was designed to on board new clients with cheap luxury.

You tell me which one sounds engineered better...

haha that is a good point, cadillac's objective is to come up with something to battle it out with bmw's new 4 series.

Except that the 4 is a two door. There is an ATS two door floating around, but my guess is that someone will stick a nail in it.

Well the 3 series is still a 4 door. Caddy engineers used the e46 3 series as the benchmark for the ATS' steering and feel. It was designed as a BMW hunting weapon.

Now as for the CLA... its platform was developed to underpin cheaper FWD variants for Mercedes and Nissan, for 2 vehicles coming in at similar MSRPs one is far more engineered than the other...

the CLA is nice but its only nice, CLA is a pretty girl with no personality..
