im more curious than anything. the more oil it holds the cooler and fresher it remains. if you look at some of the v6s they hold almost or about 10qts.
Hmmm.... Too much oil can have a huge negative impact on fuel economy. Certainly you want to make sure you have enough oil in the crank case to lubricate all the necessary components but having more oil than you need also produces drag on moving parts, especially the crank shaft. Ever try to run in water? I had a 3.0L V6 that was good for over 300,000 miles that only needed 5 quarts. My wife's 3.5L V6 needs 6 quarts. 10 quarts for a V6? I don't know.
