New automatic transmission featuring "start and stop" and "park and shift by wire” technologies that is currently being developed by Mercedes-Benz.
According to the agreement, the German carmaker grants Nissan a license to manufacture the transmissions for Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. Nissan subsidiary Jatco will build these newly licensed gearboxes in Mexico.

It is likely a new CVT. What does this have to do with Mercedes CLA?

The CLA comes with a 6 speed manual or 7 speed dual clutch auto.

No, it's a 7 speed DCT, probably Getrag.

Yeah the 7 speed double clutch automated manual is in the B250 and A Classes as well. I can't see a CVT being useful in any Mercedes car. The one in the old A and B Classes was a total disaster.

I don't know what being built in mexico has to say about quality but I hope it's good and not shotty work. Last thing Mercedes needs with a new mainstream vehicle like the CLA is shotty work bringing it down.

The B250s that Canada is getting are made in Rastatt Germany. The B Class is also built in Hungary. I wonder where the CLA will be made.
