Maybe wagons aren’t dead after all.

Mercedes-Benz has just introduced the 2017 Mercedes E400 wagon, sporting a 3.0-liter V6 Biturbo engine with 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Although the popularity of wagons has diminished over the recent years thanks to crossovers and SUVs, Mercedes will continue offering its E-Class wagon variant in the U.S. Unfortunately, the company has confirmed the hotter Mercedes-AMG E43 is currently not planned for the U.S. market, although that doesn’t rule out any other AMGmodels. Don’t be surprised if the range-topping E63 comes to the U.S. at a later date.

For now, shoppers will have to settle for the E400 4MATIC wagon, which sees its powerplant mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. With three rows of seats, the E400 wagon allows seating up for up to seven and the model comes standard with foldable rear-facing seats in the cargo area. The 2017 Mercedes E400 wagon will be available in both Luxury and Sport models, so shoppers can choose between classic bumpers and styling with a hood ornament or sportier bumpers further accented by a grille.
