My original plan is to purchase a 2015 taurus as my next car. When I am searching taurus's price in autopriceshare, I found the CLA250's price is good. The price I got for 2015 CLA250 is $29600. it is a basic model.
friends recommend me to choose the 4Matic model. According to my understanding, 4Matic is only useful when it is snow, right? If my city rarely snows, is it necessary pay $2300 more for 4Matic model?

I would reconsider. A CLA is significantly more claustrophobic than a Taurus. A Taurus is a midsize sedan. A CLA is essentially a hatchback. The rear can be quite tight as well. Also, a CLA with no options on it is quite lacking.

As to AWD that depends on you. I think it will add to resale value (something I don't care about since I run my cars to the ground). At least the CLA45's AWD is quite good. It is very hard to beat on the road. I've only got it sliding and skidding a few times on the road (with a track, empty road, or runway of course that's easy). AWD is good for any inclement weather, including rain. In fact, I think the crazy thunderstorm rains in the Eastern US can be more slippery than snow. And I've driven a lot in both situations. If this is going to be your default commuter and you don't have an AWD alternative I would get AWD. Most of us can't be calling out sick for days if the roads are bad. Of course, chains can make a big difference too.
