Mercedes is saying the CLA is their best US launch to date, as many of you know dealers are having quite the slog keeping up with demand.

MB USA boss Steve Cannon:

“This is our best launch in 20 years. The CLA has been a phenomenal success right out of the gate,”
MB USA told dealers in an internal memo on December 9th to expect fewer CLAs in the first half of 2014 as the plant in Hungary is already cranking them out at full capacity. They are forecasting tighter inventories and low supplies from February through July 2014 as a result.

Mercedes Warns U.S. Dealers of Tight Supply for New CLA C - Bloomberg

More from Cannon:

"a lot more floor traffic and many new faces” because of the Mercedes-Benz CLA. “The increase in our overall model sales indicates that this traffic is benefiting all Mercedes-Benz models,”

no doubt

good move on Mercedes part

People want the brand but can't afford some of the other cars or just simply dont want a entry C class
The CLA is an attractive car that people actually WANT

But the new C class should really step things up

Hopefully after a few years of the CLA Mercedes will have enough of a young audience to bring the A-class over. Or even more interesting, the B-class (it's available in Canada). That'll blow the minds here in the states. The three point star on a Fiesta rival or a mini-MPV. Then to bring the AMG B-class. Who wouldn't want an AMG minivan? :p

But damn!! 54 is the median age for the C-class?! Boy that makes me feel strange that I wanted a car for people that old. Though AMG probably would skew that number a bit.

I dont think its a car for people that old, but more of a car that people that old will spend money on ya know.

I'm sure theres plenty in the CLA crowd who would of had a C class years ago but couldn't justify the cost...

I wonder if the CLA will actually bump the average age of C class buyers even higher...
