What do you guys think of the CLA tailights? Jalopnik doesn't seem to be a fan.

Is it me or...

Does it seem like the taillights on the CLA are heating elements that are melting the car.

I can see how the writer things the lines on the tail lights look like heating elements but it actually looks good and it's something a lot of car makers are doing these days. So if the CLA has heating element styled tail lights, so does 75% of the luxury & premium cars current being sold.

They just had to find something about the CLA to $h1t on
I like the tail lights. I think they are very clean. Jalopnik just likes to complain about sh!t.

I don't get the melting the car part. Is it because the back is so sleek and rounded? Well hasn't the CL always been like that? o.0
So many critics have been against the rear view of the CLA, I don't get why they hating on the uniqueness and futuristic look of Mercedes' direction. Gives me more reason to pass people to see this rear view and back off.

i think the melting part he was getting at was the lights make the rear look ugly. Sounds like their just trying to follow the rest of the criticism.
the cla's tail lights look fine to me, no horrible ricer look to them, but if i could change them I wouldn't have the lines divide into two sections, rather have one continuous line outlining the edges of the tail light, it would look much cleaner.

does anyone know if these are full LED tail lights or just partial?
If they are LED they should be full LED. Not sure why you would have them partial.
Full LED tail lights are the way to go. Mercedes being a premium brand should hopefully make full LED tail lights available for the Mercedes CLA.

I was going to say they might have full LED tails on the highest trim level CLA, the CLA45 AMG, but so far it seems the CLA250 and CLA45 AMG have identical tail lights.

LOl that is a good one. I actually like this led strip look for the tail lights they look more sophisticated than the previous design which is out of date.

The CLA250 and CLA 45 AMG has the same tail lamp design but seeing how every little thing is an option from Mercedes it wouldn't surprise me if it was only offered in the higher models or have to pay a little extra to have the led strips in there.

the only thing with a full led is that if one day in the future say one led was to burn out and I don't know if you can just replace it simply like how you would with the conventional bulbs. It would be expensive i'm guessing.

Since LED lights in vehicles are becoming so popular im sure there will be independent shops and people you can take it to to get it repaired. It will probably be much cheaper that way than having to buy a brand new LED tail light.

Or Mercedes will take your old LED tail light as the "core" giving you a cheaper price on a brand new one, not sure how well that would work though,

I'm sure there has got to be a way to replace the bulbs. No way they would make you replace the entire tail light. That would be theft!

That was the case in the past for other manufacturers with similar LED tail lamps. I don't even want to think of how much it would cost to replace one. But lets hope you can replace the bulbs without having to replace the whole unit itself.

It's robbery indeed but considering the fact that it's Mercedes, most likely you will have to replace the whole tail light. Unless some one comes up with a DIY on how to replace the LED in the CLA in the future.
