I have just recently taken an interest in the CLA-Class but I find myself wondering who else I would see driving these cars. I feel like Mercedes is just trying to attract new, younger buyers with the "uniqueness" of this model; it is not a regular car and it doesn't really have much competition. The red line in the headlights for example, or the red stitching in the leather...I can't tell if that's cool or sexy or just plain odd-looking. It's basically a baby CLS with a special exhaust and some fancy rear springs with a modern spiffy interior. What are your thoughts? Is this a soccer mom car or a car in which one picks up soccer moms?
agreed hundred percent, Mercedes seems to be confused about who their clients really are. Full time Wal Marters or the C suite? Maybe their older clientele are dying off and they're trying to stem the bleeding?

Sure Mercedes has traditionally been for high rollers, but I don't think that making a more affordable model will alienate any current Mercedes fans. The CLA is still nothing compared to a S-series, so it's not like they will feel cheated. Making the CLA may also get some customer loyalty from an earlier age giving Mercedes a larger following in both the short and long term.
but it comes with the same badge. When Ferrari debuted the Dino, a low cost model in the mid 60s-70's, Enzo Ferrari refused to allow it to leave the factory wearing a Ferrari badge. He was worried about hurting Ferrari's pedigree.
