What exactly is the word on the Becker system?

I was thinking it'd be nice if I could skip the Multimedia package and just get the Becker, but how is it? What's this glovebox module I keep hearing about it?

So without the OEM Navigation system the Becker system is an external unit that essentially plugs into MB's existing display screen. So the entire navigation system is in a little box that fits in the car's glove box. You have to get the Becker Map Pilot pre-wired for it at the factory. The plug will be in the glove box where you plug the Becker Map Pilot box into. As for how well it functions compared to the OEM navigation system, that is something I can't comment on as I've never used it before. I've only used the OEM system.
