What exactly is the word on the Becker system?

I was thinking it'd be nice if I could skip the Multimedia package and just get the Becker, but how is it? What's this glovebox module I keep hearing about it?

So without the OEM Navigation system the Becker system is an external unit that essentially plugs into MB's existing display screen. So the entire navigation system is in a little box that fits in the car's glove box. You have to get the Becker Map Pilot pre-wired for it at the factory. The plug will be in the glove box where you plug the Becker Map Pilot box into. As for how well it functions compared to the OEM navigation system, that is something I can't comment on as I've never used it before. I've only used the OEM system.

Short update. Next week I'm getting the AMG-carbon dashboard and the chrome window exterior moldings wil be replaced with the black ones out of the night package.

I do have becker, I ordered the car pre-wired and bought the becker for $350 on ebay (instead of $600 from dealer) it is OK GPS unit, nothing fancy, finds the nearest starbucks for me, takes to the address, it has its own mind, sometimes its not takes you to a logical route, but it works. Better than google maps? NO.. better than nothing?? YES. Also displays the current speed limit on the road you're in, and I like that. you can see the navigation front of the steering wheel while displaying something else on your 5" display. So I mean I think it worth $550 that I paid.. (I didn't think it did previously..)
However, I do regret not getting MM package command system does much more. if you subscribe to mbrace membership, there are apps that only work with comand system (which comes with MM package)..
Also don't forget you do have similar abilities combined in Drive Kit plus.
