What is the deal with this hood rod that came with the car? I was hoping for gas shock but mercedes with hood rod?, c'mon...My 2003 mustang has the same hood rod and I installed the gas shock later on. Well, I guess that would be my second mod then.

remember, so did the 163 ML... im sure theres aftermarket companies that will make hood shocks for it. TEIN or KLEEMANN, just a guess

Ehh its a cost saving measure. It does kind of seem cheap. But if its a big deal you can install your own for pretty cheap.

Be sure to add a detailed description of your install of the hood shocks so it can be a sticky for others (me).
By the way, the hood is awfully light. Wouldn't take much to hold it open.

Yep, that's what I have on the Stang as well.

its a convenience mod. its just more convenient to have the gas shocks. especially if you work under the hood yourself.
