remember, so did the 163 ML... im sure theres aftermarket companies that will make hood shocks for it. TEIN or KLEEMANN, just a guess

What is the deal with this hood rod that came with the car? 
I was hoping for gas shock but mercedes with hood rod?, c'mon...My 2003 mustang has the same hood rod and I installed the gas shock later on. Well, I guess that would be my second mod then.
