Read more about the Mercedes-AMG GT Convertible Spied on the Autobahn at AutoGuide.com.There’s now proof that the Mercedes-AMG GT Convertible is in development.
Earlier we reported that AMG boss Tobias Moers confirmed that the Mercedes-AMG GT Convertible is on its way and now a spy photographer has caught a prototype testing on the German Autobahn. The photographer reported that the AMG GT Convertible was being benchmarked against a Porsche 911 Convertible.
The German automaker has just unveiled the hardcore Mercedes-AMG GT R and it appears the convertible variant will at least be available in standard AMG GT and GT S models. Expect the powerplants to carry over, which means the base model will get a 456-horsepower engine while the GT S packs a meaner punch with 503 hp thanks to a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine. It’s currently unclear if AMG will make a GT R Convertible.
The company is also rumored to be working on a Black Series variant, which will be lighter and even faster than the GT R.
