I'm looking for a first car. I found a 1995 Mercedes C280 for $3500 with 140k miles, it looks great shape. Does it sound like a good deal. Does anyone know if it matters what gas you use in the car. Most people say it doesn't.

I suggest you look at places such as The Star magazine published by the MBCA as well as forums on the W202.
Typically all Mercedes engines are high compression engines and as such require premium fuel. If you use regular or some mid grade you will get engine knock which can be destructive to the engine. The difference in the price of gas vs. an engine rebuild/replacement is not worth the savings in gas.
