Do you call it a Mercedes, a Benz, or by something else?
Personally I tend to say Mercedes or Merc. I think I first held the use of Merc in reference to an AMG as a mad Merc, and so I tend to use Merc for AMGs. I guess kind of like Mad Max, though I think the AMGs are even more crazy.
I don't like to use Benz. It just doesn't sound like it has the cachet of Mercedes for the brand. And yes, I know I'm the one who constantly argues that Mercedes is actually a Toyota and not a Rolls. Thank god they didn't name it after Karl Benz's wife (Bertha) and instead after Emil Jellinek's daughter (nicknamed Mercedes). Heck, good thing she had a nickname, otherwise we'd be all lusting after an Adrienne-Benz. Just doesn't sound as good. At least not as bad as Bertha-Benz.
