Negotiate MSRP

I am going to pre-order CLA 250 with the premium and multimedia packages (~35,000). I dont want to pay the full MSRP. What are the common discounts?
I am financing the car (Leasing is not an option at this time)

Awesome job, dionisio944 with getting the car below sticker. I'm a USAA member also but not in the military (civilian employee working for the Army) so I don't qualify for the discount. Every MB dealer I visited asked me if I'm a USAA member and I had to explain why I don't qualify for the discount. I'm eyeing an Edition 1 and hope to negotiate some kind of deal but can't seem to find the dealer invoice to arm myself with. Would you happen to have that or know where to get it? Thanks and good luck. Can't wait to see the pictures.
I was able to get at least $1500 off MSRP. If you have USAA they will take automatically $500 off. Make them think that you are in it to win it (I told them I would make a decision within 24 hrs.) I got another $300 off. Then I told them that since my package came with a Navi Pre-wiring but without the actual part itself it was rendered useless ($550). Then I also added the fact that I because their service was nice (which it was), that was one of the reason why I came back $250 off. As a new Benz owner I was happy with $1500 of MSRP.

Are or were you or any of your relatives in the military? I'm in USAA also but I'm not in the military nor was any of my family members so I don't think I qualify for the discount.

I'm a Marine. So long as you are able to get insurance through them, you can qualify for the Auto Circle. If you are able to access the Auto Circle, you can get the certification code from USAA (after building the vehicle) and all you need to do is bring it to the dealership. Only problem is the cert code is directed to the person who is the USAA member, so there isn't really a way to get around it.

I see. Well, I'm beat. No biggie. I wasn't counting on it anyway.... and thank you for your service.

Update!!!

I just put a down payment on a 2014 CLA Cirrus White, Sahara Beige MB-TEX,premium package,Sport Package,Rear deck spoiler,Becker map pilot prewire,Bi-Xeon Headlamps/taillights,Total for 36,675 as configured thru MB web site and dealers did the same.
I came in armed with my homework, had dealer invoicing, told them I knew about 3% dealer holdback, Told them I knew their dealer to salespersons incentives for pushing units to get the end of moth bonus, and I told them that I already went and looked at another dealer that offered me $500 off.
I said if you want to sell a car now its on my terms, I understand you have to eat but I should not feel ripped off because you are greedy. I was stern and controlled the conversation.
Bottom line: original invoice of 36,675 and I offered him 35,000 out the door and told him to please don't waist my time with a counteroffer this is my 1 and only offer. He shook his head and he was gone for 10 minutes and when he came back, he put out his hand and said Congratulations! you got a deal.
35,000 out the door, dropped 1,000 down, He pulled a car from pre-production to customize it for me and I expect delivery Nov 15th.

Key notes: I went in on Columbus Day right @lunch time, it was slow. I also am in the military active duty and have USAA as my bank that is offering me $500 incentive to use car buying service thru them and secured financing for 1.49% of a pre-aproved 40,000 loan. So between the 500 originally offered from dealer, and the 500 from my bank that was 1,000. So I was able to wiggle another 675.00 and I am not only getting my free key chain. Since I purchased the sport package with stock summer tires, he is willing to swap, mount, balance and install my new all season tires i purchased from Tire rack for free when the car comes in and I will either sell or save the summer tires for later use. One last thing, I also negotiated the illuminated Stars installation for free when the car comes in. just have to pay for the Star 480.00. and I also already got the Becker Map pitot for 275.00 NIB from e-bay not 600 that the dealer wants.
Funny part is that now end of month is coming soon and the first dealer called me the same afternoon to inquire if I still wanted the car, and I told him your a day late and and 1175.00 too late. I already made a deal in another dealership

Do your homework, don't get emotional over the car they feed off you wanting it so badly, definitely have your poker face, and control the conversation. you WILL get a better deal.
Hope this post helps others.
UPDATE!!!
I went back and told dealer this week... that I was thinking of adding a few (lol) add on's and wanted to delete other items... So I deleted the Becker map pilot prewire, $200 off, added the multimedia package (2,370), wood dash(325) and panoramic roof(1480) . total additional ons (4175). Total car before negotiated price (40,650) out the door price (38,000) Total discount 2,650.
The more you add on, the more you have to bargain. and another note, it was the sales rep who want's to close the deal because it's getting close to end of month and if They wait for production unit, it will be next month maybe mid Dec. so moving a vehicle on lot will get them closer to sales goals and the dealership also saves money by not paying the impact fees every month when they sit on the lot month after month. Ill post pics when I finish deal, will wrap it up next week.
Thanks all!

Welcome dionisio944, congrats on your CLA! We'll need pics of it definitely. That's one of the better deals I've read and I'm glad to hear you stood your ground.

That's awesome to hear that they're willing to negotiate on price because I'm about to make an offer this week. Hope I get the same kind of deal you got.

Ordered my CLA three weeks ago and was able to knock $2K off the build price. I was told they were doing that for anyone doing a full factory order so it's their way of holding onto the customer that has to wait 2-3 months to get their car.

paid basically MSRP.

My local dealer only would not budge. Only leverage I had was the $500 off promotion when you test drive. Good luck negotiating!
What exactly is the word on the Becker system?

I was thinking it'd be nice if I could skip the Multimedia package and just get the Becker, but how is it? What's this glovebox module I keep hearing about it?

I see some people buying the Becker PILOT pre-wiring but not the Becker Map PILOT. Why is that?

Wow, how did you talk your way into that kind of deal? :D

The pre-wire needs to be done at the factory. You can get the Map Pilot until much cheaper elsewhere (eBay) than the $600 the dealer charges.

Oh ok---makes sense.
Mine came out $39,345, but they rounded it out for $39,000. Should have the car in a few weeks, or so they said. I got my order expedited because the dealer had ordered one for their inventory that was still open for changes. $1000 refundable deposit.
I will likely be ordering one in a few days with the sport package, bixenons, and panoramic roof = $35,355 MSRP.

I was able to get three dealerships down to $34,000 and one of them to go down further to $33,500 since I had a bad experience last time I was there...that's about $550 over invoice price.

I am thinking of adding Mountain Gray Paint and the illuminated door sills and hoping I can squeeze them further to add them for just another $1K or at least at just cost.
Wow that would be an awesome deal if all you have to pay on top of that is tag and tax. I have a feeling when you goes in to sign that paper they gonna say BTW there is a $800 dealer fee and $300 for documents fee.

Nice choice @hnguy4, that's a decent negotiated price. I like the illuminated sills but not sure I'd personally spend the money on it.
