Okay guys, this really sucks. My wife and I are currently on vacation in the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. This morning, when climbing a steep hill, the Pre-Safe unavailable light came on along with both ESP lights. Went into limp mode and we couldn't climb the hill. This is a dangerous situation, to say the least. Stopped the damn car, turned it off, restarted it and found the issues had cleared. It happened again a few minutes ago when we didn't have the option to stop (steep drop off on the sides of the road). I floored it and it crept up the hill at about 15 mph with my foot through the floorboard. Finally turned off and did the restart again.
Looking at other forums I have found this to be a known problem. Possibly a programming error or, most frequently, the accelerator sensor.
When I get home, if I get home, the POS is going to the shop.
Will update when fixed.

Danger!!

Big concern now. The car goes in Wednesday morning. It happened twice yesterday when the wife was driving home. Once on the interstate in heavy traffic and again on a secondary road. Both times she had to pull over and conduct the turn off and restart to clear the warning. Again, both times a loss of power.

This can be a real hazard and MB needs to issue a campaign recall 'cause it ain't just us.

Just got back from the dealership.
This is a known problem with the CLA. The initial fix is to replace a pin connector on the accelerator sensor. If it doesn't occur again - fixed. If it does, contact MB for further instructions.
The pin isn't kept in stock so they kept the car. Hopefully in and installed tomorrow.

Picked the car up this morning. Replaced six pins in the accelerator sensor. About one hour per pin to replace due to the restricted access under the accelerator pedal.
Original pins were loose.
We'll see.

This happened to me too. I had to take it in and they replaced the sensor underneath the accelerator peddle. Very annoying!
