As much as having burning tail lights would look awesome, it also seems pretty dangerous. I wonder if Mercedes will have to do a recall. They make companies look so bad

Yes and no, a well timed recall does alot more good then a nonexistent or poorly executed one.

Fair enough, but the moral of the story is to not put something on the market that has a severe defect like that in the first place. Much better for the company to take responsibility than to not address the problem at all.
