Any of you out there with a C-class may want to check this out...

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation into Mercedes C-Class sedans over the possibility of faulty taillamps that could catch fire. Issue affects 2008 and 2009 model years.

drivers reported a burning smell, few noting melted electrical components. Scariest is the reports of scorch marks inside the trunk. One driver reported seeing flames from the tail light wires. The NHTSA is exploring the possibility of a recall.

Fair enough, but the moral of the story is to not put something on the market that has a severe defect like that in the first place. Much better for the company to take responsibility than to not address the problem at all.
in all fairness its 2008 and 2009 model years that are in jeopardy, its difficult to anticipate this type of degeneration

seeing how this is on 2008 and 2009 models, we shouldn't have anything to be concerned about. if it was 2012 and 2013 models....different story....maybe then we should be concerned and start to question thing.
Just a heads up to anyone who may own a C-class on this board. I have a '10 that will be traded in when purchase of my CLA is finalized.
