Just wondering what others are using and how often are you changing?

I'm using Castrol Synthetic 5W-40 and changed at first one thousand miles and will do again at 10,000 miles

I haven't changed the oil in my CLA yet. When I do it will be done by the dealer because I pre-purchased all scheduled maintenance for 5 years so what ever they use I assume will be what MB recommends.

To be honest with you I don't remember but that price is negotiable and I think I got them to cut 15% off the regular price because I agreed to buy other services.

I think I'm following the manufacturer's recommended intervals.

I just couldn't think about leaving the oil unchanged for 10,000 miles on a new car, I don't care what the Germans recommend. And who know what kind of oil they put in there, I feel better and the engine idles smoother with the Synthetic oil IMO.

The same German engineers whose recommendation you don't care for are the same engineers who designed the engine and car you care enough buy. I can understand your concerns about oil changes on a new car if it was years ago but design and manufacturing technologies have progressed to a point where the manufacturers themselves are comfortable with 10,000 mile intervals. Oh BTW, the CLA (as well as other MB models) come with synthetic motor oil and recommends synthetic oil changes.

That's what you hope anyways, I changed mine to Castrol Synthetic prefer it over Mobil 1. By the way no sticker under my hood -- They must have been out of them that day on the assembly line.

Manufacturers will use the oil, and place placards for whichever oil company will pay for the privilege - and have an oil that is "good enough".

Mobil 1 0-40 European Car Formula is the MB recommended oil. May as well use that.
Cheapest i could find in the US is at (W)almart 5G jugs.

Great oil comparison by the ZO6 track guys. 5W30 Pennzoil Ultra, API SM synthetic, Best wear protection and 280* before onset of thermal breakdown. It'll be what we put in ours at the 10K point.

i hoard them whenever walmart has em on sale

frequency for me is every 3000 miles or less if i drive like a maniac

i change it often..

I am contemplating changing my oil soon, just to get the break in period oil out of the system. But otherwise I'll likely only have a full oil and filter change done on the schedule of 20,000KM given by Mercedes-Benz.

I like Castrol Edge European 0W40, mostly because it's the only oil I can find on the shelf here which has MB Approval 229.5.
